Existing patio was very small and with new sliding doors incorporated into the house the deck could be brought right up to the level of the house without impacting on the damp proof course.
We designed the deck to have 2 right angle returns which allows for 2 large seating areas plus does not impinge too much on the garden space.
We incorporated dry storage under the deck and we minimized on wood balustrading by putting marine cabling under the top handrails. This allows much more light onto the deck and into the house and allows the garden to be viewed clearly.
Sloping garden so we cut and filled the area we needed for the deck, this minimizes the soil being taken away and also allows you to create a further flat area which in this case we put gravel on.
Narrow long soft wood deck which had a step half way up. Marine cables were used instead of wood balustrading which allows for a greater view up the garden from the house and also doesn’t enclose the deck as if it’s a fortress.
